Hobbits Dream Big

I finished reading this book a few days ago. It was my second time to read through it and I enjoyed it even more than the first time around. I confirmed that Bilbo Baggins is my favorite fictional character and even though we have never met each other, he's my good friend.

If you haven't read The Hobbit, then you should. It's awesome. I don't want to tell you what happens on this post, but I'll summarize it.

Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit who loves his comfortable hobbit-hole. He hates adventures and unexpected visitors who boss him around and eat all of his cakes around afternoon tea time. He is, without much of his say, "invited" on an adventure.

On this unwanted quest, he discovers many hidden abilities within himself (vigor, wit, strength, creativity, etc.) which leaves Gandalf saying multiple times, "There's so much more to hobbits than meets the eye." His talent isn't the only thing that made him successful. There were moments where he seemed trapped in down right impossible situations and some how escaped them. He called it "luck" but I know better than to call it that. He also found special items that, for a time, made him seem all the more clever and courageous because they were magical or supernatural.

I also read this book at the same time. As I read them together, I realized that they are completely in sync. Both talk about leaving comfort zones to pursue a dream. The Dream Giver specifically says every person has a dream and most people have no idea they have one. Some people believe that not everyone has something great they want to chase after and accomplish, but the truth is... we do. Everyone does. We were made to do really amazing things with our lives like change the world and beat the snot of the things that get in our way.

These books intensified my crave for going after my big dreams. You have a big dream, too. And, whether you know it or not, it's intertwined with God's big plan for the world. You should go after it. You're absolutely jam-packed with skill that you have no idea about. You have gifts that would help you dominate all of your trolls, goblins, spiders, prisons, and dragons. Deep down you have a burning desire to see the fullness of the glory of Jesus Christ.

He gave you a dream. It's meant to come true. I know that sounds like a fairytale, but it's very much the reality. It's more real than the future of living in the land of (how The Dream Giver describes it) Familiar being a Nobody. You were made to be a Somebody. Jesus wants to show you his fullness and let it flood your life.
